Not sure yet how I feel about resolutions for the new year…to dream again and catch up on unfinished projects. When cleaning out my sewing room, I ran across a quilt top that was almost finished. I am sewing little dots of fabric all over to cover the points that didn’t quite match up. This was a block exchange…we all sew our seams differently and some were more and some less than the quarter inch. I am liking this one so far…can’t wait to get more of my “resolution” tops finished and to the quilter. Will try to post when finished.
OK, please ignore the background…I know I need to clean the garage. But…just wanted to show you what I have been up to for days upon end. The Torso Family! They greet me every time I drive in the driveway and open the garage door. They were done for my daughter, Cora’s store in Omaha. Soon to be delivered. I sort of like them in my house…I can see a whole line up of torsos done in all sorts of paper.
Inspiration is all around us. I take a look at this and find so many ideas for quilt blocks. I think this is from things found in nature. Doesn’t it just make you want to sit down and design some quilt blocks? Gotta file this one away for those days I have time. Ah, ha, ha, ha. When is that?
OK…this is not mine. It is from a website called, Material Obsession. It is an Australian site…a group of very talented and creative people. It seems they inspire each other. Don’t you just love the little lines this creates all over the quilt? They call the pattern “Gypsy Kisses”.
Humor invigorates me. I can’t imagine what possessed this man to dress up as a side of bacon. Can you? And we are proud of our clown costumes. For shame. Every time I laugh at photos such as this…I can feel some sort of healing going on inside me, some sort of inspiration to continue on with my own projects, and an appreciation for people who just go out there and do this sort of thing!
Crocheted stone covers. Wow! I think a quilt would be lovely if using this as inspiration…both the colors and the design possibilities. Oh, to have the time to create one. Sigh. But who knows…maybe some day.
